Teaching Philosophy, Goals, and Objectives

I try to maximize the extent to which students feel the material is relevant to their lives [which means I have to try to understand their lives via Photo Essays (a class project), surveys including a follow-up survey of grads 6-9 years after they took Psyc. 305; and personality anecdotes which they write which illustrate concepts I lecture about; and having some exam material that involves case analysis of other college students who agreed to provide the raw data for such analyses]; I believe that students learn best by doing something or applying knowledge than merely studying lecture notes or reading textbooks; I like to utilize simulations that I first learned from Dale Brown.
